Piano won't hold a tune?
There are things that can be done and they are not always expensive.
Clean keys with 4-0 steel-wool or a damp cloth and mild soap. Steel wool will clean more deeply and not scratch. If at all possible, Place your piano against an inside wall or at least away from direct sunlight, heat
or where excessive moisture may be present. Avoid extreme temperature changes. Excessive humidity is very harmful to pianos as well as excessive dryness. Felts and pin blocks are especially affected causing
sluggishness, loose pins, etc. Have your piano checked annually and you will save future repair bills. A piano can be moved carefully around the house without getting it badly out of tune, however, when moved out of
the house, it is usually best to have it re-tuned. The most important thing is to tune it annually. Pianos weigh 400 – 1000 pounds and should be moved only by an experienced mover. Children are naturally
curious and are drawn to things that make noise. While we advocate encouraging your children to learn to play the piano, it is not good to allow them to hit the keys harder than is required for normal playing. This can
cause damage and added expense, especially on older pianos. The worst thing you can do to a piano is not tune it.. Moving will not change the tension of a piano; not tuning it will. If a piano has not been tuned in
years, it needs two or three tunings over a period of time. Flippin Piano Tuning & Repair Service 4943 Byron Rd
